Newar people of Nepal celebrate one of the most loved festivals This is the month of Bachhalaa as per the Nepalese calendar. Beginning third date of this month (which falls today, i.e. April 26 for the Gregorian year of 2020) Newar people start their annual DePuja . Newar people has a very highly developed social structure among them their collective living and celebrating occasions is also one of the traits. During the DePuja the number of families falling in a group will gather and celebrate DePuja going to a so called Khyo (Usually a open field with their deity.This time this particular deity to be worshiped on the day of DePuja is already chosen since many hundred years, maybe even a millennia). This is the festival, when people of Nepal buy new clothes and enjoy as if going to a picnic. First Day of Month of Bachhala-tho - A special tradition of Newars Today is the first day of Nepali month of Bachhala-tho. Today month long festival of chariot of Bunga Dyo was supposed to take place. But due to current pandemic it is not going to happen. On this day Newar, the indigenous people of Kathmandu valley have a special tradition. There is a herb called Paalaabe . This are available in Bania shops in Kathmandu, like Itumbaha, Kilagha:. The seed inside is rubbed in stone and the juice is fed to children also the Paalaabe is give to be carried around the neck of the children as a single piece garland. It is said that by this tradition of Paalaabe , the germs and parasites in the stomach of children are killed. This seems to be very scientific and practical at the time of worm infections. Let us learn a new Script-Alphabet of Nepal NepalLipi Nepal maybe a small country in comparison to many in the world in terms of area, population, development etc. But if you go in the ground in Kathmandu valley, you will see the indigenous people of Nepal called Newars. They have their own language called NepalBhasa. And Nepal Bhasa has been written since thousand year in multiple of scripts among them are NepalLipi, RanjanaLipi,BhujimolLipi etc. These are all unique scripts that belong to the country of Nepal. Kathmandu has something which any city in world does not have This is a story about Kathmandu and how it is different from other cities. What is one unique thing, that the city of Kathmandu has which, nowhere in the world you can find. When you visit other cities you may find roads big buildings or malls and so on. But when you visit Kathmandu, you will find something very beautiful (but maybe ignored) monuments in hundreds and thousands. They are made by general public in public places, courtyards, road sides, hilltops, private lands and so on. They have very much historical and archaeological values as mane are old and as old as 1500 years old. In Kathmandu valley there are estimated to be in 2500 numbers. They are called Chiva and Chaitya. These Chiva are making the city very unique and beautifying the city. We need to highlight this. The writing is in English language but written in NepalScripts (Nepalese letters).
