Daboo Pyakhan - Cultural shows of Newars

Newar, indigenous nation of Nepal, has one of the most advanced and developed societies in the world.

Since thousand years Newar people has built a civilization and society where each house has open in space in two sides, lots of open spaces in the form of chuka (courtyards), baha (larger courtyards), bahi, waste management system(used as fertilizers), underground water system with stone spouts (Lon Hiti), many artistic buildings, temples with stone and wood carvings, Chiva and Chaitya(Stone monuments in thousands in numbers), Guthi formations (Guthis is grouping of families to perform various duties in society like maintaining temples, marking festivals, conducting cremation of the dead etc), separation of agricultural lands, which usually are near the rivers to the residential areas and many more system which is the characteristic of a highly developed nation.

For entertainment there used to be so called Daboo Pyakhan (In other words stage shows). Specially during the Yenya (One of the most loved festivals in the calendar with participation of majority of people). In many Twas(Neighborhoods) a stage will be set for the night and stage performances from dancing, recitals, stand-up comedy to plays are displayed on stage.

This is a song from 60 years(sixty years) ago from on of such stage performance. It goes something like:
The singer(female) is calling the breeze and asking to come and provide the coolness and come look at my youthfulness.
