Newar people of Nepal celebrate one of the most loved festivals

This is the month of Bachhalaa as per the Nepalese calendar. Beginning third date of this month (which falls today, i.e. April 26 for the Gregorian year of 2020) Newar people start their annual DePuja.

Newar people has a very highly developed social structure among them their collective living and celebrating occasions is also one of the traits. During the DePuja the number of families falling in a group will gather and celebrate DePuja going to a so called Khyo(Usually a open field with their deity.This time this particular deity to be worshiped on the day of DePuja is already chosen since many hundred years, maybe even a millennia). This is the festival, when people of Nepal buy new clothes and enjoy as if going to a picnic.

Different group(So, called Kawo, a group within a group of families called Phooki) celebrate DePuja on different days but starting from the day of 3rd of the month of Bachhalaa.

For some Valley-jens the DePuja starts from first day of Bachhala-tho month, on the day of start of BungaDyo Jatra as well.
