Today is the first day of Nepali month of Bachhala-tho. Today month long festival of chariot of Bunga Dyo was supposed to take place. But due to current pandemic it is not going to happen. On this day Newar, the indigenous people of Kathmandu valley have a special tradition.

There is a herb called Paalaabe. This are available in Bania shops in Kathmandu, like Itumbaha, Kilagha:. The seed inside is rubbed in stone and the juice is fed to children also the Paalaabe is give to be carried around the neck of the children as a single piece garland.

It is said that by this tradition of Paalaabe, the germs and parasites in the stomach of children are killed. This seems to be very scientific and practical at the time of worm infections.
