Traditional musical bands of Nepal Mandal

This is an excellent example of intangible heritage of Nepal.\

Almost all the neighborhoods of Kathmandu valley and Nepal Mandal included have their own traditional musical bands. Is it surprising? Maybe. Since centuries if not thousands of years, each neighborhood are playing their bands during various festivals in the Nepalese calendar.  Each band consists of drum like instruments called Dha, Nayekhin, Dhimme, Danga etc and other calls Tinchhu, Bhusya and Chhusya- they are used to give the beat as per the music that is being played. There are hundreds of traditional bands in the valley.

The month of Gunla(falls in Augusr-September) in the nepalese calendar is special for indigenous people of the valley. They go to Buddhist shrines whole month with their respective traditional bands. This has been ongoing since hundreds of years. Here we present several bands from different neighborhoods.
